Special Needs

The Special Needs Program at Regis Jesuit High School is designed to maintain the dignity and uniqueness of individuals with a diagnosed learning difference. We help students with dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, and other specified learning disabilities to work toward and achieve their academic potential. We have found that students who are organized, intrinsically motivated and who can self-advocate are the most successful in this program. We provide support and limited classroom accommodations dependent on the the specific needs of the individual. Accommodations may include, but are not limited to, extra time on quizzes and exams, help with note-taking, and preferential seating.

In order for students to access official accommodations, they must provide a current (within the last three years) psycho-educational assessment by a licensed diagnostician. This evaluation should include a statement of the specific learning disability and how it affects the student. A disability code as specified in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV) is preferred. The evaluation should also include recommended accommodations for the student. For further information regarding the Special Needs Program, please contact the coordinator in the appropriate Division.
