Girls Division Physical Education Department
The Physical Education curriculum provides a wide range of courses to promote wellness of the mind and body so that every student may find something they are interested in. The goal of our fitness classes is to improve fitness levels by incorporating the five components of fitness including cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, body composition and nutrition. All classes also incorporate community/team building, building confidence, and using proper safety techniques. The Health curriculum focuses on the physical, social, and mental/emotional areas of health. Students will develop life skills such as interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, decision-making, refusal skills and goal setting. One P.E. credit is required for graduation (.5 credit must be Health, the other .5 credit must be a fitness class such as: Dance, Aquatic Sports, Mind and Body, Team Sports, Weight Lifting, Personal Fitness, Individual Lifetime Sports or Fit for Life).
