Students who become ill while at school are encouraged to go to the Nurse’s Office prior to calling a parent. If a student has a temperature over 100 degrees F, has intestinal symptoms (nausea, diarrhea), or an illness or injury needing medical attention, a parent will be notified. Sick students will wait in the Nurse’s Office for the parent to arrive. Those students who drive are asked to see the nurse prior to calling a parent to go home. In order to diminish classroom interruptions, we discourage students from calling or texting a parent without first checking in with the nurse.
Students participating in athletics are required to get an Athletic Physical every year. A physical examination form must be completed, signed and submitted to the athletic trainer before participation is allowed. Please see the Athletic Training webpages (GD | BD) for additional information. The Athletic Packet is required as well. This is an online form that must be submitted prior to athletic participation.
In accordance with Colorado Immunization Laws, all students attending school must have a complete, up to date immunization record on file with the school they currently attend. New students are asked to submit a copy of his/her Immunization Record to the school nurse in the appropriate division. We advise keeping a copy of the immunization record for your files. For convenience purposes, immunization records may be emailed directly to the school nurse, or faxed to the respective Main Office (Boys Division 303.766.2240 or Girls Division 303.221.4772).
If your son/daughter receives any immunizations during the year, please submit an UPDATED immunization record to the school nurse to replace the record on file. It is not necessary to provide an immunization record every year if the record on file is current.
New Immunization Rules Regarding Medical and Non-Medical Exemptions
On July 1, 2016, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment issued the new law for immunization requirements regarding those students who are not vaccinated. Regis Jesuit High School requires that ALL UNVACCINATED students submit the Medical Exemption or Non-medical Exemption form directly to the school. Medical Exemptions need only to be submitted once for the student's entire four years at Regis Jesuit. Non-medical Exemptions need to be submitted every school year.
You may access more information and the required forms on the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment website.
Clarification: Immunization Records are collected by the school nurse, whereas Athletic Physical forms are collected by the Athletic Trainers. Please do not send immunization records to the Athletic Trainers.
EpiPens, Inhalers, Diabetic Supplies, and other Prescription Medications
If your student has a medical condition (e.g. life-threatening allergies, asthma, diabetes, migraines, infection) that requires him/her to take a prescription medication while at school, please have a doctor complete the Prescription to Give and/or Carry Medication Form and return to school nurse, along with the medication, in a gallon-size zip-lock bag. Medications must be in the original pharmacy-labeled bottle or box. We will not accept expired medications.
Students with Life-threatening allergies, Chronic Asthma, Allergy-induced Asthma, and Insulin-Dependent Diabetes are strongly encouraged to keep prescribed medications in the Nurse’s Office in the event of medical emergency. An Action Plan (Asthma | Diabetes | Seizure) and Prescription to Give and/or Carry Medication Form must be submitted with the medication.
Gently used clothing
We are always in need of gently-used clothing, including polos, dress shirts, pants, belts and ties. Please consider donating to the Health Office when cleaning out your son's or daughter’s closet this summer.
