Andre Lawrence Martinez '01

Andre Lawrence Martinez '01 passed away on November 5, 2025.

"Born with a smile that could brighten any room, Andre entered the world surrounded by love. He was Larry and Michele's son and Joelle's little brother or "Big," as he lovingly called her. From the very beginning, he was embraced by great-grandparents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins who adored him deeply. He was the heartbeat of every family gathering, the laughter behind every story, and the voice that carried above the crowd, boisterous, joyful, unmistakably Andre. A devoted sports fan through and through, Andre cheered the loudest—win or lose—for the Broncos, the Nuggets, and yes, even the Rockies. It was rare to see him without a piece of sports gear, each one a small badge of loyalty to the teams he loved and supported. In recent years, Andre found his greatest joy on the sidelines of smaller fields, proudly cheering for Isabella and Mateo's soccer teams. If they were playing, he was there encouraging, celebrating, and treating every goal like a championship win. He loved the twins deeply and was immensely proud to be their uncle and their biggest fan. A character. A dreamer. A loyal friend. His "boys" from Notre Dame, Regis, and CU Boulder became brothers for life. Together they played music, built memories, and proved that friendship really can last through every season. Andre had a deep love for animals, and they seemed to sense his gentle spirit, always returning the care and attention he gave. None, however, loved him more than his loyal companion, Murphy. Their bond was unbreakable, a friendship grounded in quiet understanding, steady comfort, and unconditional love. Andre's journey was not an easy one, but he faced every challenge with unwavering grit. When his liver failed, his cousin Brandon gave him the most precious gift, a second chance at life. That gift allowed Andre eight more years filled with games watched, music played, laughter shared, and love multiplied. And when life came full circle, Andre did what only true heroes do, he gave back. From donee to donor, his final act became a legacy of life for others. To know Andre was to know abundance of love, of laughter, of light. He filled every room he entered, and now, he fills our hearts. In every game, every song, every story told, Andre will be there forever remembered, forever loved." Click here to view the full obituary.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 24 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Rockley's Event Center, 8555 W. Colfax Ave., Lakewood, CO 80215
