COMING HOME

In August, I came back to Regis Jesuit for my senior year and it was like coming home. After having a summer of a lifetime, full of working and making memories, I was ready to get back into the high school groove.

The first club meeting for RJ Media had upwards of 90 people, and the excitement was through the roof for the new year. My favorite part of the program is being able to broadcast sports live on the Raider Sports Network, so that was like coming home.

This is a primary reason why I attend this school. It’s like a second home.

Not that it is not without its very hard times. Mrs. May, one of my favorite teachers, passed away unexpectedly. I was filled with pure sadness. I was in disbelief that something so tragic could happen. With all the senior year excitement I began the year with, never could I have imagined something like this happening.

Luckily, this school rallies around each other in times of struggle and defeat, and we work through it together. I was truly able to see the brotherhood and sisterhood that we hear so much about.
During last week’s Spirit Week and the pep rally, I realized that Homecoming is always happening here at Regis Jesuit. In moments of triumph and moments of sadness, too. We need each other and we are a family.

We were able to broadcast our Homecoming game last week. That night I decided that every broadcast I do for the rest of the school year will be dedicated to Mrs. May.

I realized that this, my senior year, was going to be another beautiful journey, hard at times, but beautiful nonetheless—one in which I know I have the love and support of our RJ family and know that I am home.
