CHAPEL BELLS TO BEGIN RINGING ON CAMPUS AGAIN

We are excited to announce that we will be ringing the bells in the steeple of the Blessed Rupert Mayer Chapel for specific occasions starting this week.
The bells were recently restored due to the generosity of an anonymous benefactor who wished to honor the late Fr. Dave Wayne, SJ. Fr. Dave served the Regis Jesuit community from 1995-2014, working as the Facilities Director for many of those years. The bells were blessed before being placed in the steeple by Fr. Eric Ramirez, SJ in a special ceremony for the donors.

Bells find a special place in the life of the Church—they mark important moments in communities, and they summon us to prayer. The beautiful sounds that ring out from a bell draw our attention from the mundane and help us to recognize there is something else at work in our day, God’s grace.

Starting today with the dismissal of K129, the bells will ring at 1:00 pm on any day that we have a student retreat beginning to remind us to pray for those participating in and leading the retreat. They will also be rung as a call to worship for all-school Masses, for Feast Days of key Jesuits, including St. Ignatius and our patron, St. John Francis Regis, on the anniversary of the school's founding, November 5, on Homecoming and at the Baccalaureate celebrations held on campus. There may be other special occasions where we also ring them.

We look forward to incorporating this historied ritual back into our campus traditions.
