RJ STUDENT ARTWORK TO BE FEATURED AT CONCERT—JANUARY 12

Artwork by 25 students in Heather Delzell's class will be featured in a special exhibit of the performance of the opera Dido and Aeneas by the Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado (BCOC) on Sunday, January 12 at 3:00 pm at Central Presbyterian Church in Denver. The students were asked to paint portraits based on the work. Entry to the art exhibit only is free and RJ students can attend the performance free of charge. Discounted tickets for RJ parents for the performance available on the BCOC website. From Frank Nowell, BCOC Director:
Delzell, a Denver artist who painted a new portrait of Arcangelo Corelli featured on the cover of [the BCOC's] recent CD, Corelli’s Circle, asked her students to paint portraits based on Dido and Aeneas. According to her, “The majority of the students painted portraits of their most revered character. Some felt called to depict Carthage’s landscape or a dramatic scene of Dido and Aeneas in a deep embrace. The larger goal was to ferret out the deeper truth of their subjects. Beyond likeness, capture and uncover the interiority of their subjects.”

Delzell also created an original piece for BCOC to use for these performances. What an amazing way to showcase the artistic talent of our community. Go check it out!
