Nathan Haas '13

We are saddened to inform you that Nathan Haas '13, brother of Bridger '15, passed away on Monday, May 25.

"Nathan is survived by his parents and his beloved brother and sister, Bridger and Elizabeth Haas; his grandfather, John McCutcheon, and his many cousins, aunts and uncles. He spent his youth in the mountains surrounding Aspen, Colorado, which he forever loved. His memorable high school years were in Denver, Colorado, where he attended Regis Jesuit HS, before earning a BA in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was a member of the SAE fraternity. He also attended Miami University, in Oxford, OH for one year. Nathan began his investment career while in Chapel Hill at Morgan Creek Capital Management, then as an associate on the Consultant Relations team with Dimensional Funds Advisors in Austin, Texas. He was an admired colleague, recognized for his optimistic energy and enthusiasm, his friendliness, and his willingness to help those around him. His hockey, teammates, and coaches throughout his 25 years were a big part of his life. He relished being a part of a Colorado HS State Championship and USA Hockey High School National Championship team and National runner-up the following year with his brother by his side while at Regis Jesuit. He was also a member of UNC’s DII hockey team for 3 years, winning an ACC championship in 2015. He shared the puck on the ice as he shared his life with others. Nathan was an avid skier and loved to golf, hike in the mountains, play with his dogs, and watch and play all sports, especially Tar Heel basketball and Colorado Avalanche hockey. Nathan was a believer in Jesus Christ and we hold to the promise that he is with him in the presence of God. He will be remembered for the love he had for his family. He loved deeply. His light burned brightly for his 25 years and he cherished his many friends and the bonds he developed in Colorado, Ohio, North Carolina and finally Texas. His smile, dry wit, energy and passion for life will impact all who knew him forever." Click here to view the full obituary.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 13 in the chapel at Heritage Funeral Home, Weddington, NC. A reception will be held immediately following the service at Forest Lawn East Reception Hall.
