SPECIAL OLYMPICS POLAR PLUNGE A "SPLASHING" SUCCESS!

More than 200 Regis Jesuit students and faculty took part in this year's annual Polar Plunge on Saturday, April 17 in the frigid Aurora Reservoir, raising a total of $26,888 for Special Olympics Colorado (SOCO). Following a huge turnout and show of support by the Raiders, Regis Jesuit was awarded both the Highest Fundraising Team and Coolest School by SOCO. The RJ Boys and Girls Swim & Dive Teams, led by Coach Kristin Repaci, were our largest participating groups with more than 40 team members taking the plunge. Members of the Robotics Club, Rowdies and Cheer Team were there to encourage the plungers and support the efforts of this amazing day. Catelyn Billings ’23, Dylan McCollough ’23 and Kameron Rendek ’24 were the top three fundraisers for Regis Jesuit—we congratulate them for their outstanding efforts.
To date, this was the largest Polar Plunge in the Aurora Reservoir's history raising an incredible $135,000— greatly exceeding the goal of $90,000—with Regis Jesuit playing a big part in this achievement. “You all have absolutely crushed it! Thanks to you and our incredible sponsors, this is not only the largest Aurora Polar Plunge in its history, it’s the largest in the entire series!” shared Alexandra VanderPol, Director of Events for SOCO.

Regis Jesuit was named the first-ever private school in the country as a Banner School for Special Olympics in November 2019 and has continued its strong partnership and commitment as a Unified Champion school. “Regis Jesuit HS has been integral in helping SOCO develop its Unified Schools Program. From the athletic director to their teachers and to all the students that support it, they continually strive to make sure the club is on campus and part of the school forever,” stated Chaka Sutton, Senior Vice President of Competitive Programs & Unified Schools, Special Olympics Colorado.

Congratulations, Raiders on a job well done!
