MISSY FRANKLIN '13 OPENS UP ABOUT HER JOURNEY THROUGH DEPRESSION

Great Raider Missy Franklin '13, gold-medal Olympian and mental health advocate, recently gave the keynote speech at the University of Colorado’s Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Depression Center. where she shared her journey through depression and anxiety and the impact that it had on her personal life, career and family. In her inspiring and honest presentation, Missy spoke of the importance of keeping balance in life, and how the domination of external pressures affected her overall performance and love for swimming and competing. Her openness about her mental health journey and her perspective on quieting external pressures and keeping a strong self-balance is an inspiration to us all. We continue to cheer, ‘Go Missy!’
