VARSITY BASEBALL'S STATE BID CUT SHORT

Despite a strong and consistent offense throughout the game, including a late two-run homer by Isaac Waschmann '22 in the seventh inning, the top-seeded Raiders ended their bid in the 2021-22 Class 5A State Championship series with a disappointing 10-6 loss to seventh-seeded Cherokee Trail on Saturday, May 28 at All City Stadium. Errors early in the game allowed the Cougars to get a large 10-2 lead after the third inning. The Raiders mounted a strong comeback, aided by three scoreless innings by senior pitcher Nate McHugh '22, but were unable to gain the lead. The team lost to Douglas County 5-4 in the first game of the tournament but came back to beat Valor Christian 4-1 in their second game before being eliminated in the series by Cherokee Trail. Congratulations to Head Coach Matt Darr and the Boys Varsity Baseball Team on an impressive season, finishing with an overall record of 23-5. We are proud of you!
