As the 52nd winner of this prestigious award, Macias has been recognized for his strong performance, team leadership and exemplary accomplishments for his participation on both the Varsity Football and Varsity Baseball Teams. Macias is a highly decorated multi-sport player, leading the Raiders in tackles and receiving yards on the football field as well as hits, RBIs and home runs on the baseball diamond.

He has also been recognized for his exceptional accomplishments off the field both in his community and in the classroom. He shared his time, talents and faith by volunteering countless hours at the Winter Park Bible Sports Camp, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Extreme Community Makeover. In the classroom, Macias took elevated and honors courses and in his senior year, received two top senior awards: the Lou Kellogg Award which honors a top senior athlete who has made an exceptional contribution to leadership and athletics during his four years at Regis Jesuit, as well as the Raider Man Award which honors those who are a living example of the pillars of the Graduate at Graduation and who give of themselves to the best of their abilities in academics, club activities and sports.

In learning that he received this honor, Macias shared “Mr. Steinmark was dedicated to courage and faith, and I believe many great athletes have that in common. The Freddie Steinmark Award honors a man who put his team before himself and lived his life courageously through his faith. Whatever the future holds for me, I will strive to lead and inspire others, both on and off the field much like Freddie did.”

Established in 1972, this award honors Freddie Steinmark, who excelled in football, basketball and baseball at Wheat Ridge High School in the 1960s. In addition, he was an outstanding student and was also active in several school and community-oriented endeavors. Freddie passed away from cancer in 1971 at the age of 22, just two short years after helping the University of Texas Longhorns earn a national football title in 1969.

We are proud of you, Dallas. Go and set the world on fire!
