STUDENTS HELP FLY DRONE OVER CONSTRUCTION SITE

On a chilly morning in late October, RJ students involved with the Robotics Club took to the skies with a drone to survey the progress of the Science & Innovation Center construction.

Our partners at Saunders Construction brought the drone they use to survey the construction site to assess progress and help optimize the project. They spent time explaining how drone use has improved their processes and showing the students the basics of its operation, then generously offered to let the students try their hands at flying it.
The first snow of the season cut the experience short as drones cannot fly when there is significant precipitation. Nonetheless, this experience gave our students insight into how technological tools can be leveraged in real-world settings—the same opportunities the Science & Innovation Center will help us broaden and illustrate with even greater impact.

We appreciate Saunders partnering with us to make this experience possible for our students.
