The Red & White is the weekly newsletter for parents and students sent via email each Friday. It functions as an announcement sheet for upcoming events and activities with links to pages on our website where more information can be found.

Submissions for the Red & White must be received by Tuesdays at noon to be included in the following Friday's issue. Submissions after the deadline will be held for the following week's issue. To submit an article, send an email with this attached form to redandwhite@regisjesuit.com. JIMMY TRICCO: NUDGED TOWARD JESUS
This past Sunday, October 14, the Catholic Church reflected on the lives of ordinary, regular people who possessed an extraordinary faith. The Church celebrated seven newly-canonized saints: Pope St. Paul VI, St. Oscar Romero, St. Vincenzo Romano, St. Nazaria Ignazia, St. Francesco Spinelli, St. Maria Caterina Kasper and St. Nunzio Sulprizio. These saints serve as models of commitment, demonstrating that holiness is not only possible but may be reached once we fully surrender to God's ineffable love. MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR FRESHMAN RETREAT
The annual Freshman Retreat will take place December 6-8, 2018. It is a graduation requirement and therefore mandatory that all freshmen attend this retreat. Please feel free to contact retreat directors (Mr. Aric Serrano, SJ, girls or Ms. Kristin Repaci, boys) with any questions. More details will follow, but please mark your calendars! Vacations, sports camps and other commitments are not valid reasons for not attending Freshman Retreat. RJHS coaches understand that unless freshmen are competing on a varsity team, they will be unable to attend practice and/or games.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR OPEN HOUSE
Open House is on Sunday, November 11, from 10:00 am-1:00 pm, and Admissions needs your help! Prospective families appreciate hearing firsthand from Regis Jesuit parents about their experiences. The Raider Parent Community Association (RPCA) needs volunteer parents or students to check-in, greet and answer questions from prospective parents. There are two shifts available; please sign up online to help.

INTERESTED IN A STEAM-FOCUSED TRIP FOR YOUR STUDENT?
Interested in an interactive, real-world excursion focusing on STEAM concepts? Join Ms. Repaci and Mrs. Busselmaier on an 11-day trip to London and Paris where you will use forensics to study Jack the Ripper and use your code-breaking skills to solve the Enigma code at Blechley Park. The trip will be from June 3-13, 2019. Student interest meeting on Friday, November 2, at lunch in BD 170. Parent interest meeting on Thursday, November 8, at 6:30 pm in BD 179.

RAIDER SHOP UPDATE
The pre-ordered 2022 class hoodies are in the shop for pick-up. For those that missed the two bulk order periods, hoodies are now available in the Raider Shop online store. Order online and your purchase will be shipped directly to you! Check out all the other items that are also available online!
The Shop will be open on Wednesday, October 24, from 1:00-7:00 pm for Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences. The Raider Shop is staffed by volunteers. MOM PROM T-SHIRT LOGO DESIGN CONTEST
Calling all creative boys...we need your help with the first-ever logo design contest for this year's Mom Prom! The winner will receive a $75 Visa gift card and an event t-shirt featuring the winning design. We are looking for imaginative two-color graphics, incorporating design elements reflecting our 50s theme of "Rock Around the Clock," and "RJ" or "Regis Jesuit Mom Prom 2019." For additional details and ideas, please refer to the sign and flyers located near the Main Office and direct any questions to momprom@regisjesuit.com. Drawings or printouts need to be submitted to the Main Office by November 2.

MOTHER-DAUGHTER "PRETTY IN PINK" JAMFEST—OCTOBER 21
Our "Pretty in Pink" event is this weekend on Sunday, October 21, in the Steele Center from 5:00-8:00 pm. Dinner will be served, and there will be lots of fun female-bonding festivities. Moms and daughters, get ready to "jam in your jammies"! Walk-ins are welcome at this wonderful mother-daughter event! In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, we will be collecting voluntary donations for Clinica Colorado at the event. This wonderful organization supports underprivileged women who are in need of breast exams, mammograms and other preventive and diagnostic care. PSAT FOR SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS—OCTOBER 24
On Wednesday, October 24, all sophomores and juniors will take the PSAT. This exam prepares students to take standardized tests and gives them a jumping off point from which to begin preparation. The test will begin promptly at 8:00 am. Please bring a calculator with batteries, pencil (mechanical pencils are NOT allowed) and student ID. Room assignments for the exam will be posted around the school. After the test is completed, students will be dismissed. There are NO classes that day. Buses will run in the morning and directly following the test. If you have questions, please contact the School Counseling Offices at 303.269.8123 (girls) or 303.269.8023 (boys).

PARENT-TEACHER-STUDENT CONFERENCES—OCTOBER 24
Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences are on Wednesday, October 24, from 1:00-4:00 pm and 5:00-7:00 pm with a dinner break for faculty from 4:00-5:00 pm. All students and parents are invited to come meet with their teachers during those times. Appointments are not necessary.

COFFEE WITH THE BOYS COUNSELORS—OCTOBER 30
We would like to invite parents of boys to attend our first Coffee with the Counselors this semester on October 30 in the Steele Center at 8:00 am. This is an opportunity for parents to come together with one another and discuss ways to support their sons, as well as a chance to engage in informal discussions with the counselors about topics that pertain to their son's lives. At this particular meeting, we will discuss brain development and peer pressure. There will also be time for informal discussions with the counseling personnel. Please join us for this time to come together, learn and share ideas. Please contact Nate Moeller with any questions.

COLORADO FREE APPLICATION DAY—OCTOBER 30
Seniors, are you applying to a college or university in Colorado? If so, consider taking advantage of Colorado Free Application Day. Application fees will be waived for applications submitted on Tuesday, October 30, 2018. Find more information and instructions for each college and university online.

REMEMBRANCE MASS—NOVEMBER 2
Regis Jesuit invites all students, parents, alumni, friends, faculty and staff to join us in the celebration of Remembrance Mass for First Friday on November 2 at 7:00 am in the Blessed Rupert Mayer Chapel in the Girls Division. We will acknowledge those members of our community who have passed away this past year in a celebration of the Eucharist, with wonderful music provided by the First Friday Choir. Afterward, join us for light refreshments and fellowship upstairs in the Steele Center. Please share the names of those whom you would like the community of Regis Jesuit to include in our prayers by emailing us at events@regisjesuit.com or 303.269.8140. Those names given to us will be placed on special scrolls and presented during the November 2 Mass.
Parking: We allow special parking for this Mass each month; parking is limited on campus, please see the parking map for details.
Weather Contingency Plan: If the school is closed due to poor weather conditions, then Mass is also cancelled. If school is on a two-hour late start, Mass still will be celebrated at 7:00 am.

MEN'S CLUB FALL SPRUCE UP—NOVEMBER 4
Calling all volunteers! Every fall, the Men's Club sponsors the Spruce Up as an opportunity for students and parents to help clean up the school grounds (freshmen and sophomores can use this to complete required service hours). The event will be on Sunday, November 4, beginning with Mass at 8:00 am followed by breakfast. We will meet in the Girls Division cafeteria to be assigned cleanup duties. Please wear appropriate clothes and bring work gloves. We will not need additional tools other than a few extra rakes. Please sign up online.

RAIDER MOMS FALL RETREAT—NOVEMBER 5
Come away from a busy, hectic world into a quiet atmosphere of peace and beauty. Enjoy fellowship with other moms at the Raider Moms Fall Retreat on Monday, November 5, from 9:00 am-2:00 pm (check-in starts at 8:30 am), at Haven in the Pines (463 E. Happy Canyon Road, Castle Rock, CO). Join us for a day of reflection and prayer in this unique and spiritual setting. The fee of $35 includes the retreat, coffee and lunch. SPECIAL SCREENING OF SCREENAGERS—NOVEMBER 5
Regis Jesuit and the Our Lady of Loreto Home and School Association have joined together to present a screening of the documentary Screenagers on Monday, November 5, at 7:00 pm in Holy Family Hall at OLOL. Screenagers is about the impact of the digital age on children and how to help them minimize harmful effects and find balance. After seeing the film, viewers reported that they feel more confident and better equipped to establish balance around screen time. Students in fifth grade and older are encouraged to attend with their parents, though this film is beneficial for any family where children have access to a tablet or smartphone. RAIDER PARENT COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION MORNING MEETING—NOVEMBER 8
Please join the RPCA on Thursday, November 8, in the boys cafeteria with a social time starting at 8:00 am followed by our meeting at 8:20 am. Come by for a warm cup of coffee as we share with you information about upcoming RPCA activities and ways to get involved. We will also receive updates about the Regis Jesuit Community from RJHS Principal, Jimmy Tricco and Assistant Principal for Student Life, Bryan Timme. You are welcome to park in the visitors parking area in the Girls Division, along the drop-off and pick-up lane next to Kellogg Stadium (after 8:10 am) or in the visitors parking area in the Boys Division.

GRANDPARENTS DAY—NOVEMBER 18
Please invite your student's grandparents to this lovely celebration of faith and family on November 18. The day will begin with Mass at 10:00 am followed by a brunch. Both events will be in the Guy Gibbs '47 Gym in the Boys Division. Cost is $20 per person if registered by November 12 and $30 per person if registered after November 12. RJ STUDENTS FOR LIFE CLUB SPONSORS DIAPER DRIVE
Throughout the month of October, Regis Jesuit will join hundreds of schools, businesses and churches around the country to collect diapers for families in need. Diapers will be donated to Catholic Charities and Alternatives Pregnancy Center. Sizes four through six and Pull-Ups are especially needed by these diaper banks. Bring diapers to Tradition Hall in either building. Last year, RJ collected more than 41,000 diapers! Let’s beat that record this year!

The box office is open for RJ Theatre’s fall musical production of Sister Act! You don’t want to miss this tale of crime, faith and self-discovery set to a disco beat. PARENT INFORMATION NETWORK—NOVEMBER 6
Join PIN on Tuesday, November 6 from 9:15-11:15 am to discuss Suicide is preventable; depression is treatable. Alex Yannacone from the CU Depression Clinic will provide us with evidence-based prevention training that covers:

  • Warning signs to watch for in your child and their friends or in your friends
  • The role depression plays
  • Three steps that can potentially help save a life

RJ is a member of the Parent Information Network (PIN) so our parents, school administrators and community members are welcome and encouraged to attend PIN’s presentations. No need to RSVP—just come! Presentations are FREE and are held the first Tuesday morning (9:15-11:15 am) and second Tuesday evening (6:30-8:30 pm) of each month at 14188 E Briarwood Avenue in Centennial.
