INSPIRE & IGNITE: STORIES FROM THE HEART OF REGIS JESUIT

SARAH SHERWOOD: MAKING A (TECHNOLOGICAL) CONNECTION

As a teacher, I often struggle with how to effectively use the iPad in the classroom. As a parent of an RJ graduate, I often wondered (when my child was a student) what teachers were doing to utilize this technology I had to buy for my kid.

When we first started using the iPads in class years ago, I tried to figure out what the actual benefit would be. After much reflection, I decided the benefit was in connection. In my own life, I love using my personal tech devices to connect with people around the world who sew. I tried for years to connect my students to other students in the world. I used the Educate Magis website regularly; I talked to people at conferences; I talked to visitors to our building; but I struggled to find someone who wanted to connect.

Connection is harder than I thought. ..READ FULL BLOG POST

UPDATE ON DAY FOR OTHERS
Every September since 2012, Regis Jesuit High School’s Day for Others (DFO) has been a wonderful annual tradition that has brought our school community together to serve our larger Denver community in a manner uniquely centered in our mission. This school year, as our new organizational structure was put into place, a dialogue began among the key constituents involved in the planning and implementation of DFO and school leadership focused on the need to reassess this event in the context of our new structure and overall resources. Based on these conversations and the feedback provided, we determined it was in the best interest of Regis Jesuit to put Day for Others on hiatus for the 2019-20 school year. Over the next year, we will seek to evaluate DFO as part of an overarching effort of discernment and prioritization of all of our mission community efforts with the goal of determining how it might evolve. If you are interested in being a part of this process, please contact Sajit Kabadi, Assistant Principal for Mission, Ministry & Diversity. We are grateful for the efforts of so many in our community who have dedicated their time and energy to the success of Day for Others throughout the years and look forward to preserving its spirit and purpose as we move forward.

VOLUNTEER TO HELP WITH ACQUISITIONS FOR LARKALOHA
It takes a community to ensure the success of the annual LARK Dinner-Auction—Regis Jesuit's biggest community fundraiser, and we'd love for you to be a part of it! We are in immediate need for parent volunteers to help with acquisitions (follow-up phone calls). A general script will be provided. If you are interested, please sign-up to volunteer online or contact Carolyn Ristow, Events Administrator.

GONZAGA CIRCLE OF SUPPORT
The Gonzaga Circle of Support is a ministry of the Regis Jesuit Moms Club. It operates in collaboration with school administration to support our community members during any time of necessity. This support can come as help with transportation, meals or any other identified necessities that arise during a situation where a family is in need.
Are you or someone you know at RJ in need of support? Are you interested in offering support? Click HERE to learn more about this ministry. Please contact circleofsupport@regisjesuit.com for more information.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR STUDENT AND FAMILY PARTICIPATION IN RJ EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES
Did you know that scholarships are available for Regis Jesuit families who qualify to allow them to attend events like Grandparents Day, Mom Prom, Father-Daughter Dance and others? We want to ensure the fulsome participation of all of our community members in these experiences. If you or someone you know would like to attend or participate in these events, but are in need of financial assistance, please email Principal Jimmy Tricco. If you are interested in assisting students and families in need, please make a gift to the Montoya (Boys) and/or St. Francis Xavier (Girls) Funds. These funds ensure students and families can participate in the life of the school regardless of their financial circumstances.
