INSPIRE & IGNITE: STORIES FROM THE HEART OF REGIS JESUIT

JIM BRODERICK KING '87: THE LIFE OF ST. IGNATIUS TEACHES!
He is Risen! I pray that your Easter season is a blessed celebration after a prayerful Lent.

One exceptional Easter gift for me is reflecting on how much more our community grows each year in our connection to our Ignatian identity and in our shared mission with the Jesuits. Whether it is the growing demand for prayer in the spirit of the Spiritual Exercises, a deeper connection to the Sacraments of our Church, hearing from world-renowned Jesuit astronomer and Director of the Vatican Observatory Br. Guy Consolmagno this week, or an increasing interest in our patron Saint Ignatius of Loyola, the Regis Jesuit community seems to grow more and more into our Ignatian charism...READ FULL BLOG POST

BE MINDFUL OF NEW NETFLIX SERIES—13 REASONS WHY
Netflix has a new series entitled 13 Reasons Why, which young people are consuming in record numbers. The series, like the book it is based on, follows the aftermath of the suicide of a local high school student, Hannah Baker. Her classmate Clay Jensen receives a set of tapes, recorded by Hannah, a few days after her death. The tapes depict the 13 reasons why she decided to take her life. Each reason pertained to a specific person and event, which eventually contributed to an overall domino effect. As the story unfolds through 13 episodes, the viewer is subject to very graphic visual depictions of sexual assault and of Hannah’s suicide itself.
Much has already been written about the intensity of these scenes, and the triggering effect they are having on teens who have personal experience with either of these topics, or who have someone in their life who has, or who struggles with depression, self-injury or suicidal thoughts. One does not have to look far to find numerous articles about it. Regis Jesuit counselors would like for parents to know about this series. As always we ask you to be mindful of what your daughters or sons are watching, or even join them in watching it, so that you can discuss the graphic, difficult and triggering subject matter with them. If you have any questions about this, or any concerns about your student, please contact the appropriate Regis Jesuit Counseling Office.

LAST CHANCE TO SUBMIT COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP AND MERIT AWARDS
College Counseling needs copies of all scholarship and merit awards that the members of the Class of 2017 have been awarded. Email a copy to bstanford@regisjesuit.com or drop them by the College Counseling Center as soon as possible.

PERMISSION TO USE RJ LOGOS ON CAKES
Parents of Seniors:
Many of the bakeries around town request written authorization to use school logos on cakes or other items purchased for occasions such as graduation. We permit families here to use the Regis Jesuit logo, crest and hanging RJ in such manners for personal use only. To ensure that you do not encounter any issues in using an RJ logo on your cake, we have prepared a general "permission to use" letter for the three logos most commonly requested for this purpose. You may access that document here to email or print and take to your bakery or on the RJ website at www.regisjesuit.com/logos. If you also need the image file for one of the logos, please contact Charisse Broderick King, Director of Communications, at cbroderickking@regisjesuit.com.

WANTED: RAIDER JOURNEY PHOTOS FOR THE RAIDER MAGAZINE
We are gathering photos for the popular Raider Journeys page of The Raider magazine for the summer issue. We are looking for photos of you, your family and/or RJ brothers and sisters sporting your Raider wear in exotic (and not so) locations. We want to know about the cool places Raiders go ... and be a part of it! To submit a photo from your ramblings over Spring Break or otherwise for inclusion in this summer's Raider Journeys section, send your picture(s) (resolution of 300 dpi or better—standard for most digital cameras and mobile devices) to communications@regisjesuit.com by Wednesday, April 26. Learn more about the Raider Journeys feature and what kinds of photos we are looking for at www.regisjesuit.com/theraider.
