BOYS LACROSSE GIVES BACK TO LOCAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

On a recent lovely day in October, the Boys Lacrosse Team joined together in their off-season to connect with each other and share their time and talents in giving back to the community. Coordinated by the Denlinger family, the team spent part of the day at Swigert International School in Denver, working both to beautify the school grounds and to enhance an outdoor education space for students.
The group began the day with a prayer in gratitude for this opportunity to provide care and support to their local community and common home. Part of the team worked to prepare an outdoor classroom by clearing weeds and excess dirt from a large outdoor area that the school plans to use to provide several outdoor sensory spaces for students. Another group used their artistic talents to repaint a map of the United States on the playground. In addition to the time and energy needed to complete these large projects, each teammate generously contributed to cover the cost of the paint and the expenses to haul the discarded weeds and dirt. A portion of their contributions was donated to the school's food pantry and weekend backpack program that assists local families experiencing food insecurity and alleviates weekend hunger.

Through their collaboration on this event, it is evident that Boys Lax isn't only impressive and hard-working when competing. The players truly enjoyed being in brotherhood with each other, and this opportunity to work side-by-side bonding off the field is sure to result in enhanced teamwork and camaraderie when the official lacrosse season begins next spring. Shelby Dennis, Swigert's school principal, was very grateful for the team's hard work and care and thrilled with the results. She hopes to have the players back for future projects on campus. Way to go, Raiders, for giving your time, learning about the needs of our local community and putting your faith in action. You have exemplified what it means to be with and for Others.
