Safety & Security

We are committed to the safety of our students, employees, parents, guardians and visitors. We collaborate to implement proven “best practices” in school safety that help ensure our students' and staff's physical and psychological well-being.

We recognize that the school’s culture is a key aspect to providing a safe environment—helping members of the school community feel connected to each other so they can work together to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all. We believe that all staff, students and parents/guardians play critical roles in creating community, so, together, we can meet and exceed established safety standards.

Our focus in these areas is why our safety plan includes a purposeful connection between our students' physical and psychological health and safety.

  • Visitors to Campus

    We welcome visitors to our campus. We have procedures in place to ensure the safety and security of our students and staff as well as the visitors themselves. 
    All campus visitors, including current parents/guardians and alumni, must check in at the front desk of the Science & Innovation Center and present their state-issued ID. We scan their ID against the National Sex Offender Registry before issuing a visitor badge that must be displayed for the duration of their visit. Visitors must also check out when leaving campus. This process helps ensure security and also allows us to know who is on our campus in case of an emergency situation at the school.
  • Standard Response Protocol (SRP)

    Regis Jesuit utilizes the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) to streamline communication between the school and local emergency responders. By standardizing the vocabulary, all stakeholders can understand the response and status of the event.
  • Partnerships with Law Enforcement and Safety Resources

    Regis Jesuit collaborates with the Aurora Police Department, the Arapahoe County Sheriff, the University of Colorado Center for the Prevention of Violence, Office of School SafetySafe2Tell® and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for assistance with crisis planning. We have also teamed up with other organizations such as the “I Love U Guys” Foundation for training and guidance in best practices.
  • School Safety Teams

    All staff members are involved in the prevention of violence and ongoing training to contribute to the school’s safe environment. To support campus safety priorities, the school has established a Safety Team to oversee safety initiatives, an Incident Command Team to coordinate all emergencies, a Threat Assessment Team to evaluate and resolve potential threats and a Response and Recovery Team to coordinate the recovery from emergencies. In addition, members of our experienced and well-trained Security Department are armed and monitor our school campus whenever students are present. During after-school hours, Regis Jesuit employs a security company, GardaWorld Security, to monitor and secure the campus.
  • Employee Training

    Regis Jesuit provides Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) training for all employees with additional training for school leaders and most of our employees are CPR/First Aid/AED certified. 

    We conduct regular campus safety assessments and have a multi-year plan that prioritizes future safety improvements. We are committed to the implementation of data-based safety prevention programs.
  • Safety Communications and Alerts

    We utilize a reverse communication system to notify all parents in the event of an emergency. Regis Jesuit works with Safe2Tell® to provide students, parents and school staff a way to report any threatening behaviors or activities endangering themselves or someone they know, in a manner that keeps them safe and anonymous.
  • Safeguards Protecting Students from Inappropriate Interactions

    •  All employees of Regis Jesuit, including our Jesuits, faculty, staff, coaches and volunteers who work directly with students, are background checked and must attend safe environment and sexual harassment awareness and prevention training, which includes what it means to be a mandatory reporter. Employees have also attended training conducted by the Blue Bench on bystander awareness and response.
    • All of our Jesuits are screened through a more rigorous process and attend an annual safe environment program through the Jesuit Province to safeguard against abuse of minors.
    • Regis Jesuit High School has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to any sexual or otherwise inappropriate physical or emotionally-abusive interaction between students and teachers or staff. We will engage local authorities immediately to investigate any credible allegation of impropriety.

Dress Code


The context for our dress code stems from our mission and philosophy of education. Regis Jesuit High School seeks to maintain an atmosphere that is conducive to the highest quality of learning and animates the mission of our school.
To maintain structures for students which will help their growth in maturity, personal responsibility and self-discipline, Regis Jesuit has instituted a dress code policy aimed at limiting distractions from learning and engagement in our community, invites equity between students in the ways they present themselves and provides students with clear expectations about forms of dress. The school believes that appropriate dress and appearance reflect good motivation, sensitivity to others and respect for oneself and for the school community.

After I graduated, I began to realize more and more how much ‘out of the classroom knowledge’ I left [Regis Jesuit] with. The Jesuit education model taught me how to think both inside and outside the box. It taught me how to solve problems, how to interact with people in an intelligent matter and how to think on my feet. I continue to be amazed at all of the knowledge that came out of my Raider experience.
