We are a Catholic, Jesuit, college preparatory high school serving nearly 1700 young men and women in grades 9-12 in becoming Men and Women with and for Others.
With nearly 150 years of history behind us, we are a Roman Catholic educational community rooted firmly in the nearly 500-year-old model of Jesuit education, leading the way in preparing students for the 21st century.
Our unique educational model combines the advantages of single-sex instruction with opportunities for young men and women to collaborate, serve, pray and socialize together to form the whole person—mind, body and spirit.
The strength of Regis Jesuit is found in the depth and diversity of its broad community of students, parents and alumni who strengthen and share their gifts through a lifelong Raider experience.
The transformational student experience has been developed thanks to a long tradition of generous philanthropic support of our enduring educational mission.
Arrival... Warm welcome... Honduran lunch... Cathedral and City Hall.
Hola familias! We started off the day very, very early. Thankfully the airport went smoothly, and after a few wide-open mouth sleeps on the plane (Kennedy + Celie) we arrived in San Pedro Sula. Upon arrival we received a very warm welcome from the International Samaritan representatives. We hopped on our bus and went straight to a restaurant for lunch. At the restaurant the International Samaritan reps ordered us many Honduran dishes, such as carne asada, chuletas, platano frito, and pollo frito, and we all shared. After lunch, Taylor was craving a sweet treat, and her request was met with mangos con tajin y chamoy. Everyone tried it, and Cedar immediately finished after the first half bite! We left the restaurant and took the bus to their central park. It was very pretty and right next to an outstanding cathedral. The cathedral had beautiful paintings such as the baptism of Jesus. The representatives were extremely kind and got us two whole bags of lychees, a local fruit. Vivien was the biggest fan. Most of us had never eaten lychees, and this glorious fruit soon became one of our favorites. They also got us fresh coconut water. On the way to the Hotel, Mitzari, Ella, and Zoe took in the beautiful scenery and even saw Dennys and KFC. Overall, we were amazed with how green the scenery was and how gorgeous and grand the mountains were. We had some time to rest before dinner and explored the hotel. Dinner was bistec con papas y zanahorias, accompanied by our choice of agua fresca de sandia or una coca-cola. Finally, we reflected upon our day by acknowledging how colorful everything here is (Celie) and how truly nice the people are (Ava). To wrap up the night Father Menard is teaching us a Cajun card game, and we are all looking forward to tomorrow. XOXO Kennedy and Viv.
