GRATITUDE

Connor, Charlie, Benton
The one where we bake banana bread and eat chili.
What are we grateful for?

We started off our 2nd to last full day with a bang going straight to Rise and Shine for breakfast on our way to the Tennyson center. Some would say they have the best biscuit in Denver. After we got home almost everyone was asleep for a nap because of the eventful day at Tennyson. In the evening we were hosted for mass and dinner by the CVV group. In the beginning of mass everyone introduced themselves and we were able to get a feel for what the group was about. After 6 pounds chilly for dinner and our contribution of home baked banana bread (lead by Brady), we had a Ping pong king of the court match that got quite competitive. This experience prepared us for reflection after getting home, which had a core theme of gratitude. Brady led a nice prayer to start us off and get our mindset right. Then transitioned into writing thank you notes for the teachers in our classes at Tennyson center. After letters we thought deeply for 10 minutes about what we were grateful for, then we discussed as a group and everyone said a word that summed up what they were grateful for in their life.

We were grateful for this immersion experience, opportunity, positivity, community, humor/laughter, and life. As we are thinking about going off to college next year we were called by Mr. Ortiz to think more about gratitude in our daily life, and if we ever feel gratitude never hold that inside ourselves. The benefits of sharing gratitude with others especially those we are grateful for always outweighs the reasons we might be afraid to share.
