NEW FIELD HOCKEY HEAD COACH ANNOUNCED

Regis Jesuit is excited to announce Clare Kavanagh as the new Head Field Hockey Coach at Regis Jesuit. Coach Kavanagh brings an outstanding combination of coaching experience, competitive excellence, leadership and passion for the development of young women, both on and off the field. Over the past six seasons, she has served as the Head Coach at Denver East High School, where she led a remarkable transformation of the program, increasing participation, building a strong culture and guiding the team to multiple playoff appearances, quarterfinals and a state semifinal appearance.
As a player, Coach Kavanagh competed at an elite level at both Johns Hopkins University and Cherry Creek High School, earning All-Conference and All-Region honors while serving as a team captain during her collegiate career. She also remains heavily involved in the Colorado field hockey community through club coaching, CHSAA initiatives and leadership opportunities with USA Field Hockey. Beyond her success on the sidelines, Coach Kavanagh’s coaching philosophy strongly aligns with the mission and values of Regis Jesuit athletics.

Coach Kavanagh shared her excitement for the position, stating, “I have always maintained that coaching is an outstanding honor, and it is a responsibility I take very seriously. I have witnessed the rise of the Regis legacy—for the last 17 years, I have competed against Coach Wagner both as an athlete and a coach—and I have an immense amount of respect for him. It is a tall task to carry the torch forward! I am excited to put in work and listen to the voices of athletes and parents as I learn the standing traditions and collaborate on new ones as a community. Go Raiders!”

Athletic Director Ryan West is confident of her appointment, adding, "Throughout the interview process, it became clear that she sees coaching as much more than wins and losses. She believes deeply in developing the whole person, empowering young women, fostering leadership and creating an environment rooted in growth, accountability, curiosity and care for one another. What impressed me most throughout this process was her intentionality in building relationships, her vision for creating a positive and competitive culture and her genuine excitement about becoming part of the Regis Jesuit community. She spoke often about listening first, honoring the traditions and legacy already established within our program and continuing to elevate the experience for every student-athlete."

Join us in welcoming Coach Kavanagh to Raider Nation!
