We are a Catholic, Jesuit, college preparatory high school serving nearly 1700 young men and women in grades 9-12 in becoming Men and Women with and for Others.
With nearly 150 years of history behind us, we are a Roman Catholic educational community rooted firmly in the nearly 500-year-old model of Jesuit education, leading the way in preparing students for the 21st century.
Our unique educational model combines the advantages of single-sex instruction with opportunities for young men and women to collaborate, serve, pray and socialize together to form the whole person—mind, body and spirit.
The strength of Regis Jesuit is found in the depth and diversity of its broad community of students, parents and alumni who strengthen and share their gifts through a lifelong Raider experience.
The transformational student experience has been developed thanks to a long tradition of generous philanthropic support of our enduring educational mission.
The one where we show up on time to the first day of school
Woke up at 6:45am and got ready to leave for Tennyson. We left the Caribou house around 8am and Mr. Wagner needed to re park his car because he found out he needed a parking pass for his spot. We were jamming to Jack Johnson when Mr. Ortiz took a wrong turn. We arrived there at 8:30am we all got assigned classes. Ms. Hope took us all to our classes unlocking about 100 doors to get there. We all took some time to adjust to the classroom. For Noah and Mr. Wagner we sat down awkwardly and watched movies. The kids were all nice but a few were rowdy and cussed a lot. We couldn’t believe the words they said and the free style rapping they came up with. Lunch was nice and we got to play basketball all as a class. The PE class was super enjoyable and we played four square and volleyball. The kids warmed up to both Mr. Wagner and Noah well and everyone got along great. I felt awkward trying to know when to input assertiveness and just have fun with them to try and be there friends. I hope to be able to have better connections and deeper conversations with them tomorrow.
For Connell and EJ we sat in class and played cards with the kids for most of the day. Our teacher taught us a couple of cards tricks which we used to wow the kids. One time we got to teaching the kids rummy and we got them to lock in on schoolwork for a couple minutes for the reward of learning to play. We learned about rain bombs with the kids from a video that our teacher had to bribe the kids to watch. We got lunch with the kids and ate their cafeteria meatball subs which were very tasty. After lunch we had Gym and we played basketball. After gym we had computer lab and the kids were drawing using Microsoft paint. They all drew Halloween themed stuff. I felt like we were doing nothing all day and hope that in the future we can be more helpful in the classroom and in relationships.
After we got back to the house Charlie, Conner, and maybe Benton attempted to make burgers and potatoes. The burgers were a little undercooked, but the sauce was really good. The meal was incomplete though because the potatoes took way too long to make, so we ate them undercooked. Dinner overall wasn’t too bad; we also got a laugh out of it. Then we had our reflection, which ended the night. Overall, the night was a super enjoyable one, we all were laughing about dinner, we got to reflect over our days and figure out how to improve going forward. We noticed that the group started to get a lot closer together now that we are acclimated.
