TEGUCIGALPA - DAY 2

Luke Weimann
First day in the community
Today we woke up to an early hotel breakfast and then immediately took the bus to the International Samaritan community center. When we got there, we were each greeted by a sign personally made for each of us by the scholars. It was a really cool welcome and then we went to watch the scholars perform dances meant to introduce us to their culture. We also got to dance with them which was fun. Then we played soccer on their court and they were way better than us but it was still really fun. The sun came out and it got really hot so we took a break in the community center where we were able to meet more of the scholars and hang out. After a little while it was time for lunch where we had tacos with the scholars and got to learn more about each one of them. After lunch we brought food, laundry detergent, toilet paper, and diapers to some of the scholars' families. It was really impactful to see the conditions which the people there live under. After that we played more soccer and talked to the scholars more. When it was eventually time to go we got back on the bus and went to a cafe which had lots of cool drinks and pastries. We got back to the hotel and went to a mall just across the street where we got to shop and there were some cool shops. We went back to the hotel and now we are resting before dinner. Today was extremely impactful but also very fun with the scholars in their community. And even though it was really hot and I got a bit sunburnt it was still and really great day.
