We are a Catholic, Jesuit, college preparatory high school serving nearly 1700 young men and women in grades 9-12 in becoming Men and Women with and for Others.
With nearly 150 years of history behind us, we are a Roman Catholic educational community rooted firmly in the nearly 500-year-old model of Jesuit education, leading the way in preparing students for the 21st century.
Our unique educational model combines the advantages of single-sex instruction with opportunities for young men and women to collaborate, serve, pray and socialize together to form the whole person—mind, body and spirit.
The strength of Regis Jesuit is found in the depth and diversity of its broad community of students, parents and alumni who strengthen and share their gifts through a lifelong Raider experience.
The transformational student experience has been developed thanks to a long tradition of generous philanthropic support of our enduring educational mission.
Mass, 5K fun run, house blessing for Shirley's family, delivering food to families
The day dawned with steady, warm rain...not a good day for running on muddy streets. No Matter. International Samaritan locations around Central America all host a 5K Fun Run on this day, and the show must go on! RJ students acquitted themselves well, and Kennedy took first place with a time of 20 minutes (5 minutes ahead of the runner-up).
We celebrated Mass with about 60 people from the Ocotillo community. Many had not been able to attend Mass for a long time, and the parents were most attentive. RJ students proclaimed the Scriptures in both English and Spanish.
We helped deliver bags of food to needy families and visited the home of a scholarship student whose mother died recently. His father is deaf and mute, and he works in the Basurero during the night, collecting recyclables to support his family.
We visited the reconstructed house of Shirley and her mother, where the new concrete floor is still curing. Fr. Menard offered a blessing for the home and the family. Shirley expressed the gratitude of her family. She recently finished her business internship and will begin university classes next semester.
Back at the International Samaritan offices, there were tearful farewells and warm hugs for the RJ students. The staff joined us for dinner, and we reflected on the week with a slideshow. Our Seniors are grateful for the extensive planning and the warm hospitality from the folks in Honduras. They make me proud to be a Regis teacher! -Fr. Menard
