Today was another divertida day in Cerro Punta, Panama. I woke up in the morning to the sound of the dogs barking outside and Mama Nely making breakfast. If you have been looking at the photos, you may have noticed that I am slightly sunburned.
Today was another divertida day in Cerro Punta, Panama. I woke up in the morning to the sound of the dogs barking outside and Mama Nely making breakfast. If you have been looking at the photos, you may have noticed that I am slightly sunburned. I started my morning to see that it is has not gotten better and I may be even slightly redder than before. Nevertheless, after a delicious breakfast of plantains and eggs, Elly and I trekked down the mountain to FUNDICEP. After meeting with the rest of the group, we headed to the school to meet up with the kids.
When we arrived at the school, we were greeted by all the wonderful children, including Marian and Maria. Today’s camp theme was theater. However, we started with some mind and body and a stretch circle. The kids laughed while they attempted various poses and watched Ana’s headstand. The first activity of the day was creating a skit. The kids came up with many variations of the three little pigs and an exciting story of cops and robbers. After they performed, all of the Regis kids, including myself, created an improvised skit about a fight. It was so fun to see all the kids laughing at us during our chaotic performance.
After the camp, we got on the bus to pick up all the other half of our group at Guadalupe. When Fran joined us on the bus, I was overjoyed to see he had found some aloe vera cream and some earplugs to help with the noise of the barking dogs. This was probably my favorite moment of the entire trip. When the kids from Gaudalupe joined us on the bus it was fun to hear their experiences and see how it was similar and different to our own. With them we went to Finca Dracula, an orchid farm. I loved seeing the interesting flowers, but my favorite was the Discoteca orchid.
We of course ended our day at our favorite café where I ordered chocolate cake, but I was also eyeing the cake de zanahoria, so thank gooooodenss Esteban ordered it. The worker told us she’d see us tomorrow!
