We are a Catholic, Jesuit, college preparatory high school serving nearly 1700 young men and women in grades 9-12 in becoming Men and Women with and for Others.
With nearly 150 years of history behind us, we are a Roman Catholic educational community rooted firmly in the nearly 500-year-old model of Jesuit education, leading the way in preparing students for the 21st century.
Our unique educational model combines the advantages of single-sex instruction with opportunities for young men and women to collaborate, serve, pray and socialize together to form the whole person—mind, body and spirit.
The strength of Regis Jesuit is found in the depth and diversity of its broad community of students, parents and alumni who strengthen and share their gifts through a lifelong Raider experience.
The transformational student experience has been developed thanks to a long tradition of generous philanthropic support of our enduring educational mission.
We worked on our group's ramps before touring Lorretta Lynn's home.
We woke up pretty early this morning before having eggs, sausage and biscuits for breakfast this morning before loading up the pickup trucks. For Site 1, the homeowner Barbara met us as we walked up and unloaded the tools and lumber for our ramp. Today, we dug the holes for the posts which took us ages and started the framing. We have so much left to do before we finish our ramp, but we also got the chance to talk more to Barbara about what she has gone through in life. We met Barbara's 5 month year old great grandkid, who was living with her for the past 5 weeks. Mostly though, we spent the day digging. For Site 2, we had already gone through a lot of the work from digging out the ground for the ramp to then digging the post holes, however when we got there today, we started by getting the deck done, by laying down the wood to then getting the railing done. We then started on putting up the finishing touches on the ramp by laying down the boards. We enjoyed our packed lunches on the newly built deck and took in the nature around us. We should be done with our first worksite tomorrow and be able to move on to the next, thanks to Rick and the rest of the group for being so efficient with their work. When both groups met back together we had lasagna for dinner which was great. We then went to a museum close to the home of Loretta Lynn, where there was a museum set up to remember coal miners in Van Lear Kentucky. The museum was in a 3 story building, which used to contain a school, jail, dentist, and a doctor's office. We finished the day finishing the Hunger Games movie.
