RJ NAMES POOL AFTER MISSY FRANKLIN ‘13

In a special dedication ceremony held yesterday afternoon, Regis Jesuit named the pool in honor of Class of 2013 alumna and six-time Olympic medalist Missy Franklin Johnson ’13. Fr. Gary Menard, SJ blessed the pool in front of a crowd of Missy’s family and friends, school administration and members of the Girls and Boys Swim & Dive teams. Missy then surprised Hana Belibi ’24 by personally giving her the Missy Franklin Award, awarded annually to the senior female student-athlete of excellence. At the dedication ceremony, it was also announced that an endowed scholarship has been established in Missy's name with a gift from fellow alum John Sheridan ’76. Sheridan was chair of the Regis Jesuit Board of Trustees during Missy’s high school years and witnessed first-hand the positive impact she had on the school community. Following the ceremony, Missy participated in a Q&A session with RJ Media at a special all-school assembly.
