Immersion Experience: Social Documentary

One last long but unforgettable day in Tijuana, concluding our week right where it started.

Hola from Tijuana, today is day five and let’s just say our day was jam packed!

Hi everyone! Today we got to work on lavender that we transformed into gifts for the kids we got to visit later this afternoon.

Hey guys! It’s Mia, Jack, and Chiara. Today we crossed the border, spent the afternoon at Friendship Park, ate authentic food then arrived at the shelter where we’ll be at for the remainder of our stay.

Hi everyone it’s Vivi, Oee, and Barrett. We made it to San Diego after an easy flight this morning.

T minus three days for Social Documentary/Winter Immersion!

A full day's work around the neighborhood and at the wall.

Quality time spent exploring downtown Tijuana.

If we were to describe today in five words, we would use the words creative, impactful, sweet, active, and fun-filled.

We spent the day around the shelter helping with maintenance and beautification of the grounds while also spending some quality with the kids and our classmates.

We started the day in San Diego, crossed the border on foot with all of our luggage in tow, and truly began our immersion in Tijuana.

Day 1 was a travel day to San Diego in preparation of crossing the border tomorrow, on foot, into Mexico.

We met new faces, visited new places, and enjoy our time spent together! We visited Chicano Park and Old Town San Diego, where we learned more about the culture and began to gather pictures and videos for our documentaries. Tomorrow morning, we will leave San Diego and cross into Tijuana to begin the next part of our trip!

8 weeks of strong work and preparation has gotten us ready for our Tijuana immersion.
