We are a Catholic, Jesuit, college preparatory high school serving more than 1700 young men and women in grades 9-12 in becoming Men and Women with and for Others.
With nearly 150 years of history behind us, we are a Roman Catholic educational community rooted firmly in the nearly 500-year-old model of Jesuit education, leading the way in preparing students for the 21st century.
Our unique educational model combines the advantages of single-sex instruction with opportunities for young men and women to collaborate, serve, pray and socialize together to form the whole person—mind, body and spirit.
The strength of Regis Jesuit is found in the depth and diversity of its broad community of students, parents and alumni who strengthen and share their gifts through a lifelong Raider experience.
The transformational student experience has been developed thanks to a long tradition of generous philanthropic support of our enduring educational mission.
We are saddened to inform you that Dr. Richard David Murphy '56, brother of Bruce '59, Thomas '61 (also deceased) and Roger '62, passed away on August 7, 2021.

He graduated with highest honors from Regis High School in 1956. He was awarded a bachelor's degree of science from the University of Colorado in physics and master's and doctoral degrees in theoretical physics from the University of Minnesota. After a fellowship at IBM, where he pioneered Monte Carlo simulations to understand solid state physics, he was appointed in 1971 as professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. In 1974, he was recruited to the University of Missouri at Kansas City, where he continued teaching and researching physics until his retirement in 2014. He worked on a number of physics projects of national interest, including at Sandia National Laboratories and at the Naval and Air Force Academies. He was an ardent devotee to the performing arts, and a frequent attendee of classical concerts, operas, and plays. He will be remembered for his erudition, his passion for science, and his pride in and love for his family. He is predeceased by his parents, Dr. F. Allan and Anne Murphy, and one brother, Thomas Murphy. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 55 years, Donna Caldwell Murphy. He is also survived by one son, Dr. Michael Murphy of Lost Angeles, Cal., one daughter, Susan Murphy Casey (Dr. Brian Casey) of Kansas City., Mo., and two grandsons, Maxwell and Theodore Casey. Others surviving him are two brothers, Dr. Bruce Murphy (Ginette Masse) of Montreal, Canada, and Roger Murphy (Lea Ann) of Ames, LA. He will be sorely missed by all. A celebration of his life will be arranged for a later date."
We join the prayers of the community of Regis Jesuit with yours for the repose of Richard's soul and the consolation of his family and all those who loved him. May he rest in peace.
