Immersion Experience: Denver

DAY 1 - DARE MIGHTY THINGS!

Parker Hausknecht '25, Waverly Aye '25, and Everett White '25
We started our immersion Monday morning at 8:30am.
We started off our day at EarthLinks, a nonprofit aiming to give food and work to the homeless. Half of us went canvassing (delivering flyers) around the area interacting with the small business community, while others stayed at the facility building soil boxes. We later helped with the composters and “fed the worms” furthering our goal towards caring for our common home. We also ate lunch at EarthLinks, while they showed us the small shop with handmade goods (hand soap, shampoo bars, honey, jewelry, etc.) that the participants made. We highly recommend you check it out!  EarthLinks

Following that, we came back to the common area and made MANY hot dogs with an assembly line that Henry Ford would be proud of. After that, we walked over to the Civic Center, which was hosting Mutual Aid Monday, bringing our food which we had made. We distributed food, clothes, beverages, and other necessities to the marginalized community. Mutual Aid Monday was an amazing event to witness; we hope to come back in the near future (after immersion), hopefully bringing more supplies which were in high demand! Mutual Aid Monday

We are currently back at the common house relaxing, playing card games together. Some of us are preparing tonight’s spaghetti dinner. We are looking forward to the rest of our immersion and what other opportunities lay ahead.
