DAY THREE FALL 2025 TIJUANA IMMERSION - OCTOBER 9

We spent the day around the shelter helping with maintenance and beautification of the grounds while also spending some quality with the kids and our classmates.
Today was our first full day at the shelter! We started the morning with the delicious breakfast Fabi made for us. She made eggs with tomatoes, onions and refried beans with salsa to go on top. We then divided into teams to help with projects around the shelter. Some people helped paint over graffiti, others filmed a promotional video for the shelter, and we got to stencil and paint the ABC’s and numbers in one of the rooms with the help of the kids. For lunch we packed our own lunches, Fabi made us homemade peanut butter for our PB&J’s. We then went to play soccer with the kids who live at the shelter. They crushed us. We play middle school tomorrow so hopefully that will be our redemption. Before dinner Fabi taught us all how to salsa and we were all dancing in the Kitchen. For dinner Fabi made Taquitos with a potato filling with rice, butter, corn, and tomato salsa. We felt like there was a divide between the boys and girls so we took initiative and spread out the girls at dinner so we would have to be mixed up lol. Tonight, we lead the Team meeting and reflection and are looking forward to the rest of our days here! 😊
