HONDURAS SAN PEDRO SULA - DAY 5

Mia Ahern and Clayton Kollmeyer
The Big Game
Heyyyy guys!!!!

Today was an incredible day filled with love, community, and bonding. We started off the day by helping to finalize the project we started yesterday which was renovating Anthony’s barber shop and the computer lab. This was so much fun as we all worked together, and it was so awesome to see how Anthony’s barber shop all came together. Anthony’s new barber shop gave him a new opportunity to pursue and grow his business that once came from a dream at the dump. After finishing the amazing project, we made our way over to El Campo (fútbol field). On our way over we all carried various tools and positive attitudes to clean up the trash on the field. Through this we made incredible connections and memories with the community before our big game.

GRINGOS v. CATRACHOS

The big game finally began. It was filled with highly competitive energy and great sportsmanship. Everyone had a great time despite the extraneous heat. Even though the heat was a challenge we all preserved and focused on having a good time and making memories. With high anticipation of winning we took a tough loss against their insane fútbol skills. The game was a highlight of the trip and an experience we will always cherish.

After a great lunch we helped tutor the kids in English and this was such an impactful experience for everyone. It was so amazing to see everyone practice their Spanish and English despite the language barrier. After an hour of locking in we all went outside to play and had the best time. We played more fútbol of course and sang at the top of our lungs. We had a karaoke sing along and dance party which instantly lit up the room. We ended the day off by going to the market and plaza where we ate incredible ice cream and purchased souvenirs and snacks to bring back to our loved ones. Overall, today was an amazing experience and we are so devasted that tomorrow is our last day, but we are so excited to create more memories to cherish together.
