We are a Catholic, Jesuit, college preparatory high school serving more than 1700 young men and women in grades 9-12 in becoming Men and Women with and for Others.
With nearly 150 years of history behind us, we are a Roman Catholic educational community rooted firmly in the nearly 500-year-old model of Jesuit education, leading the way in preparing students for the 21st century.
Our unique educational model combines the advantages of single-sex instruction with opportunities for young men and women to collaborate, serve, pray and socialize together to form the whole person—mind, body and spirit.
The strength of Regis Jesuit is found in the depth and diversity of its broad community of students, parents and alumni who strengthen and share their gifts through a lifelong Raider experience.
The transformational student experience has been developed thanks to a long tradition of generous philanthropic support of our enduring educational mission.
On May 12, while the seniors were having graduation rehearsal, the freshmen were engaged in another tradition for Regis Jesuit: Cannonball Day! Designed both to commemorate the beginning of St. Ignatius' conversion—being struck in the leg by a cannonball on May 20, 1521 during the Battle of Pamplona between the Spanish and the French which led to a lengthy convalescence and spiritual transformation—and the end of the students' first year in high school.
This year's festivities began with Mass for the entire Class of 2025 celebrated by Fr. Eric Ramirez, SJ, the school's Pastoral Director, who reminded the students of Ignatius' conversion story. Then the boys moved to Lou Kellogg Stadium, where class representatives shot water balloons at the school's suit of armor "RJ Raider," attempting to hit it in the right leg. Meanwhile, the girls went to the pool to mark their own symbolic cannonball moment by taking turns jumping off the diving board. Then the groups traded places with freshman theology teachers guiding the fun. Some of the adults, including some administrators, may have joined in and made their own jump into the pool. (We're looking at you Mr. Card and Mr. Tricco! 😄)
The morning's events concluded with prayer and ice cream on the stadium field, accompanied by lots of laughter and increased esprit de corps for the Class of 2025.
