DAY 5 - COMMUNITY REFLECTION

By Kori Hill '24; Sloane Anderson '24; Lexi Hernandez '24
Hello parents,

We had a later start to the day preparing for our departure. The two groups gathered at Casa Karibou and had pancakes and eggs for breakfast.
We cleaned some and left to go talk with the CVV group. Upon arrival we watched two videos with the Colorado Vincentian Volunteers, one was about James Baldwin and the other was about immigration in America. After we watched the videos, we went assembled in affinity groups race. This was to provide a safe space to talk about controversial issues and be validated or corrected on perspectives. This has been very fun, and I enjoyed it a lot. Furthermore, we dove deeper into various controversial topics and heard different opinions between the Regis and CVV group. Afterwards, we took a lunch break and conversed with our peers. Next, we will be hearing from a speaker who will talk to us about climate change and migration. Our speaker is a Siberian immigrant who is a climate change activist and professional DJ. We will close our day with a reflection and ending prayer.

Best,
Kori, Lexi, and Sloane
