SPECIAL OLYMPICS PEP RALLY PLUNGES TOWARD SUCCESS

The atmosphere was nothing short of electric in the Guy Gibbs ’47 Gym on Friday, March 1 as two teams came together for an epic showdown on the court. The entire student body and faculty and staff of Regis Jesuit came together to cheer on our Special Olympics Unified Basketball teams at a Pep Rally to kick off fundraising for this year’s Polar Plunge.
Freshmen and juniors cheered on the White team, while sophomores and seniors rooted for the Red in a close game officiated by Principal Jimmy Tricco and Girls Division Head Adam Lomas '10 that came down to the final seconds. Before tipoff and at the half, students were encouraged by Special Olympics Club leaders and Denver Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton to donate to this year’s Plunge that takes place on Saturday, April 6 at the Aurora Reservoir.

More than $2000 was raised during the rally toward this year’s goal of $30,000. In 2021, 2022 and 2023, Regis Jesuit had the highest team participation and raised the most money for the Polar Plunge. After raising more than $100,000 in support over these three years, Regis Jesuit was named the 2023 Special Olympics Hall of Fame School.

At the rally, the White team ultimately won the game with a final score of 32-31. Truly though, we all emerge victorious through our participation and support of our RJ Unified program, something we have been honored to be a part of for more than two decades. Go Raiders and play Unified!

Join the RJ Plunge team or donate to support them!
